AVID ~ Advancement Via Individual Determination

AVID ~ Advancement Via Individual Determination

AVID: (Advancement Via Individual Determination) The AVID Program is a motivational and academic program with two major components: student skills for lifelong learning and academic instruction. Students maintain an AVID organizational system and learn and practice time management strategies, communication skills, and personal organization and planning. The AVID curriculum focuses on the development of students' writing abilities so that they will be successful in completing college preparatory courses.

AVID is a nationally recognized program that prepares students, who are academically in the middle, for four-year college eligibility.

AVID’s mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society. The Rancho San Juan AVID student also completes the A-G requirements and works towards acceptance to UC and CSU schools at rates higher than the state average.
